Not breathing
Not breathing
Not breathing Breath will not go in despite repositioning of head - No pulse This patient will expel an object into his pharynx at the second set of compressions. THEY MUST be looking in the mouth before ventilating to see the object. Do not: * Announce the object unless they look in the mouth * Make the object fly out of the mouth – that won’t happen to an unconscious person – they must look in the mouth to see it The patient will be in cardiac arrest from that point on with non-shockable rhythms
Not breathing
No pulse
No pulse
No pulse
This patient will continue in cardiac arrest. Run the students through continuous CPR and shockable AED analysis. Have the team leader focus on minimizing hands-off time with well coordinated switches
This patient will continue in respiratory arrest with a pulse as long as they bag him. If they go more than 30 seconds without bagging him, put him into cardiac arrest. Make sure they do frequent pulse checks.
This patient will regain some signs of life (hand movement) during the CPR period after the 2 nd shock. He will have a pulse, but no breathing Have him go through a minute or so with a pulse, them have the movement stop and the patient go pulseless and have a shockable rhythm again.
