Medical Patient Management

Applies fundamental knowledge to provide basic emergency care and transportation based on assessment findings for an

acutely ill patient..

Skills Objectives

1. Demonstrate proper assessment and management of a suspected stroke patient including performance of a Cincinnati

Stroke Scale

2. Demonstrate proper assessment and management of a suspected seizure patient

3. Demonstrate proper assessment and management of a chest pains patient, including aspirin and NTG administration

4. Demonstrate proper assessment and management of a respiratory distress patient, including use of MDI and small

volume nebulizer

5. Demonstrate proper management of an infectious disease patient, including use those with HIV/AIDS and

Tuberculosis. Demonstrate appropriate infection control measures for each case.

6. Demonstrate proper assessment and management of a SEPSIS patient

7. Differentiate SEPSIS from more common infections such as colds and flus

8. Demonstrate proper assessment and management of patients with non-traumatic orthopedic conditions such as hip

replacements

9. Demonstrate proper assessment and management of ENT problems such as nose bleed and identify possible causes

of said problems

10. Demonstrate proper management of an altered mental status patient., including administering glucose

11. Demonstrate proper management of a respiratory distress patient, including use of MDI and small volume nebulizer

12. Demonstrate proper management of a chest pains patient including use of aspirin and nitroglycerin

13. Demonstrate proper management of a behavioral / toxicology patient including use of activated charcoal and naloxone

14. Demonstrate proper management of a abdominal / GI / GYN patient

15. Demonstrate proper management of a miscellaneous medical patient
