Clinical Considerations Meconium suctioning is no longer recommended by the AHA as a routine practice. The recommendation is to intubate and perform suctioning only when the neonate is nonvigorous and other BLS interventions have failed.
Assess and document amniotic fluid color
Targeted SpO2 minutes after birth 1 minute 60-65 2 minutes 65-70% 3 minutes 70-75% 4 minutes 75-80% 5 minutes 80-85% 10 minutes 85-95%
Dry infant and keep warm
Stimulate and note APGAR Score: immediate score and score at 5 minutes
